**Trillium Care Communities is a retirement home operator dedicated to the care and wellbeing of residents living with advanced dementia and complex physical care needs. We are currently seeking to fill 2 cook positions (Days) for a 25-bed retirement home in Norwich, ON. One position is FT and the other is PT.**

**The Cook reports directly to the Operations Manager.**

**The Cook prepares and dishes the food as outlined on the menu, utilizing the standardized recipes. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the food is prepared in proper manner and presented to the residents in a palatable and appetizing appearance. Set up of presentation table and reviews weekly menus. Must have experience in quantity food preparation and the preparation of therapeutic diets, must be familiar with the use of kitchen equipment.**

**Assists the in preparation of food for meal assembly. Oversees and assists with the service of food, ensuring resident food preferences are respected. Ensures that all dietary functions are performed in a clean, sanitary manner according to regulations. Assists in control of food costs and wastage. Recommends and institutes change in technique or procedure for more efficient operation. Assists in the orientation and training of new dietary personnel.**

**Inspects food supplies and determines what quantities of food should be reordered and communicates this to Operations Manager. Ensures that adequate standards of cleanliness and sanitation are maintained in food handling and food storage, and food service. Assures proper filing and posting of menus.**

**Assists the Operations Manager in the Infection Control Program by ensuring compliance with established policies in relation to dietary issues, i.e. saving of food samples. Deals personally with Public Health Department Inspectors during dietary inspections. Ensures availability and maintenance of dietary supplies and equipment and submits requisitions as necessary.**
- **Must be able to work independently, according to established procedures/policies, and to work as a member of a group. Includes lifting, pushing/pulling, and stretching/reaching on a regular basis throughout the shift.**
- **Must have a recent Safe Food Handlers certificate issued by Public Health**
- **Must have the ability to speak, read and write English, to follow oral and written directions, and do arithmetic calculations.**
- **Good physical and mental health. Is aware and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities. Must have empathy for, and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.**
- **Must be a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.**

**Job Types**: Permanent, Part-time
Part-time hours: 24 per week

**Salary**: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
