The Consultant, Physician Experience, Development & Quality, leads complex, sensitive, and high risk investigations across Covenant Health, in alignment with the Medical Staff Bylaws, policy, and legislation. The role requires demonstrated competency managing cases across adult, pediatric, and senior populations, navigating conflict in diverse clinical and community settings, and understanding Alberta’s health system and feedback processes. Concerns may be clinical, ethical, procedural, or technical, requiring independent judgment, emotional resilience, and the ability to manage high conflict interactions. The Consultant promotes high quality physician documentation and incorporates CH’s mission and ethical principles in all resolutions. Acting with diplomacy, discretion, and objectivity, the Consultant responds to feedback; provides coaching and education; coordinates and conducts investigations, including inter departmental and inter jurisdictional matters; and advises Medical Leaders on resolution strategies, performance management, and restorative practices. The role manages organizational risk and reputation, triggers escalations when patient safety or legal exposure is identified, and ensures rigorous documentation and reporting. Working closely with physicians, Medical Leaders, Patient Relations, Legal, Quality, and Analytics, the Consultant implements, monitors, and evaluates quality improvement initiatives; analyzes trends; develops tools and resources; represents Medical Affairs on quality committees; and contributes to portfolio wide process improvements. Strong leadership and strategic collaboration support system wide improvements and province wide initiatives.
