**JOB SUMMARY**:
Perform specific maintenance duties such as installing, calibrating, repairing and testing electrical and mechanical equipment. Conduct a continuous preventative maintenance program covering equipment, buildings and grounds of all area facilities. Maintain applicable records and prepare reports. Input operational and maintenance data into plant computer as required. Following a training period, perform operating duties as required. Train staff on the use of equipment.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship Program from a recognized College or Trade school.
- Additional post-secondary or continuing education in electrical/electronic technologies an asset.
- College level courses for acquiring and maintaining Gas Technician License are an asset.
- Additional education requirements as per regulations for Water/Wastewater Licensing.
**KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE**:
- 9000 hours of work as an Electrical Apprentice.
- Experience in the maintenance of a water or wastewater system and treatment plant or similar industrial environment as an Electrician is an asset.
- Experience working with instrumentation and building systems maintenance is an asset.
- Previous experience with a computerized maintenance management systems a definite asset.
- Experience in the maintenance of boiler systems (gas fired) is preferred.
- Operating experience in a water or wastewater plant is an asset.
- Must possess and maintain a Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction and Maintenance (309A) Electrician in the province of Ontario.
- Must possess a Certificate of Apprenticeship as an Industrial (442A) or Construction and Maintenance (309A) Electrician.
- Operator in Training (OIT) Licenses in Water Treatment and Distribution and Operator in Training (OIT) and Licenses in Wastewater Treatment and Collection considered an asset.
- Must successfully complete Level 1 Water Distribution exam AND/OR Level 1 Wastewater Collection exam within 18 months.
- A valid Gas Technician License as required by the Province of Ontario is considered an asset.
- Training and a valid certificate for WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection and Lock out Tag out, Confined Space Entry, Materials Handling, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods is considered an asset.
**SKILLS**:
- Must possess above average computer skills.
- Must be able to work without direct supervision.
**SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:
- Must comply with all aspects of the Regional Respiratory Program Policy. Respiratory Fit Test mandatory.
- Must be willing to take additional training as required and assigned by the Employer.
- May be required to participate in shift assignments.
- Travel required within system to perform maintenance.
- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted specified license for the class of the vehicle operated (Class G).
- Must be an active member of the Ontario College of Trades in good standing.
