Manager of Data Sciences; Purpose
To build, lead and direct the Data Sciences program at Giant Tiger leveraging the data to drive revenue, productivity, customer experience and profitability for the company. Reporting to the Head of Analytics and Data Sciences, the Manager of Data Sciences and their team will perform statistical analysis, build models and leverage machine learning to solve complex business problems and drive the value of data in the organization through customer interactions and operational executions.

Manager of Data Sciences; Role Highlights

Leadership & People Management (25%)
Build and oversee a team that leads the execution of the data sciences roadmap
Build cross functional alignment between internal teams to develop and deliver effective and innovative data driven solutions for the business (digital and retail)
Develop iterative an overall data sciences program at Giant Tiger
Develop and maintain an agile team culture with a focus on fostering a collaborative, transparent and creatively curious environment

Data Sciences (50%)
Lead the development of ML and statistical models through the full lifecycle - research, model development and testing, debugging, monitoring, optimization.
Ensure processes within the data sciences practices are developed and documented
Establish a low-code/low-infrastructure ML/AI strategy based on the Google Cloud Platform
Build an architecture to support large scale data ingestion in a scalable, efficient and automated process
Present results and advise on direction of outputs from data sciences and model outputs

Data Sciences SME (15%)
Advise and consults within the great Giant Tiger company on ML/AI and data sciences to support overall business goals
Work with 3rd party partners and Giant Tiger teams to validate models and approaches to data outside of the Data Science practice
Act as the SME for Data Sciences in the organization and ensure you are up to date on trends and developments in the industry

Reporting & Non-Routine Tasks (10%)
Identify and report on primary KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews
Develop processes for the digital team to enhance data quality and performance

Manager of Data Sciences; Reporting Relationships

**Reports to**: Head of Data Sciences and Analytics

**Direct Reports**: Data Scientists X 3

5+ years experience working in a quantitative role ideally in a retail company
2+ years of experience managing a team of data scientists
Ability to run rigorous experiments and come up with scientifically sound recommendations
A desire to leverage data to improve business performance
Ability to translate business needs into analytical frameworks
Post-secondary education is required
Experience with AI/ML
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Segment and Looker
