H.J.R. Asphalt LP is looking for full-time seasonal Flag Persons to start as soon as possible. As a seasonal position, Flag persons are laid off in October (weather dependent).
- **Job Description**_

Flag Persons play a crucial role in road construction. They are responsible for their own safety, the safety of the work crew and the safety of the traveling public. Flag persons control the movement of traffic through the workzone using hand signals, a stop/slow paddle, and radio communication. Under the direction of the Traffic Accommodation Supervisor, the flag person will also assist in setting up and taking down the work zone signs, and help maintain the signs throughout the day. Other labour activities and regular cleaning is part of the flagger duties.

Must be willing to travel and overnight for 10-15 day shifts (weather dependent) followed by 4 days off. All long weekends off.
- **Qualifications**_
- VALID Class 5 Driver’s License
- Responsible and reliable
- Physically and mentally fit with the ability to stand for long periods of time (12-15 hrs / day with breaks every 2 hours)
- Ability to perform physical labour from time to time - pounding posts, lifting signs, cleaning, walking, etc.
- Must like working outdoors in various weather conditions including high winds and rain
- Attentive and Alert
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
- **Duties and Responsibilities**_
- Control the movement traffic through the workzone using two way radio communication
- Assist in setting up and taking down the road construction signs throughout the day
- Ensure all signs are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis
- Clean and maintain the sign truck daily
- Participate in the company safety program
- Work as part of a team and be motivated to work alone to achieve the company goal of helping to ensure the safety of the work zone
