The Housekeeping Aide is responsible to perform cleaning duties and routines that will provide a pleasant and safe environment to live and work in.

1. Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for housekeeping department.

2. Must have knowledge of WHMIS and able to handle cleaning products properly.

3. Cleans assigned areas, furnishings, fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures.

4. Cleans moveable and stationary furnishings and fixtures. Dusts, spot cleans and washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes where required. Cleans ledges, shelves, vents, etc. Empties, cleans and relines waste baskets. Straightens and rearranges furniture as directed. Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to maintenance.

5. Vacuum rugs and cleans carpeting when necessary.

6. Cleans bathroom (resident, private and public), cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls as directed, washes windows and mirrors, replenishes bathroom supplies.

7. Cleans walls, windows, doors and ceilings and spot cleans between regular washings.

8. Cleans entrances and exits.

9. Assists in terminal cleaning duties of resident’s room when a resident has been discharged or transferred and prepares room for new occupant.

10. Performs cleaning duties in isolation units according to established procedures.

11. Removes waste and disposes of waste in trash bins.

12. Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects in malfunctioning to the maintenance and /or Executive Director.

13. Reports supply and equipment needs to the Executive Director for replenishing.

14. Maintains equipment such as vacuum cleaner, cleaning cart, mops and brooms. Reports any repairs required to maintenance.

15. Receives and puts away cleaning supplies delivered to the facility.

16. Is aware of and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities.

17. Attends and participates in fire drills.

18. Attends in-services that are job related in order to better serve the needs of the resident

19. Attends staff meetings as required to know changes in the facility that have taken place and update knowledge in knowing the needs of the residents.

20. Performs other related duties as requested.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $17.85 per hour
