Assistant Counsel supports all corporate and commercial activities of the local business, with an emphasis on (i) contract drafting and review and (2) the review and approval of marketing, advertising, and promotional materials. In addition, Assistant Counsel will represent Viatris on commercial pharmaceutical trade organizations.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Negotiate and draft all forms of commercial agreements with external parties, as well as interpret and provide advice to the local business as regards to existing contracts.- Manage the legal review and approval process for all the company’s proposed marketing, advertising and promotional devices.-
- Analyze and interpret the federal, provincial, and other laws applicable to the local business, as well as to keep abreast of all legislative initiatives that could impact the local business.- Represent Viatris at various trade organization meetings/committees.- Manage and instruct external counsel.- Liaise with counterparts at the North American and global levels of the company.- Perform other duties as assigned.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- LLB or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.- Admitted to the Bar of the Law Society of Ontario.- 1-3 years of experience gained at a law firm or as in-house counsel.- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationship.- Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize, and manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.- Initiative to work with others to advance knowledge and a willingness and ability to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
