Desktop Installation Technician

Responsible for providing onsite support to internal or external customers in resolving complex or escalated technology issues.
- Resolve higher level support to servers, and/or network equipment or perform updates, repairs, upgrades, backups, and other maintenance tasks.
- Set up computer and related equipment hardware on the work bench with network and power connections
- Validate system was pre-imaged with correct and approved image
- If there are additional hardware upgrade options purchased (such as additional RAM, graphic card, OPAL hard drive), this hardware upgrade equipment must be installed by a qualified technician in the appropriate computer.
- Confirm that all IT Hardware is operating to manufacturer specifications;
- Any IT Hardware faults discovered must be repaired under approved OEM warranty prior to deployment.
- Perform any configuration setup as documented in standard installation guidelines; for example, installation of business unit approved SCCM pre-built software packages (if applicable)
**For IT Hardware installations at sites outside of the staging facility**:
- Installation Technician loads and transports IT Hardware to external site for installation.
- The Installation Technician will unpack (where applicable) and set up new IT Hardware at the end user location, replace existing IT Hardware at end user location, perform network connection and configuration (where applicable), transfer any data from old computer to new computer (where applicable), provide basic orientation to end user to ensure new IT Hardware is operational, ensure installed software is configured to end user’s expectations, and arrange for existing IT Hardware to be returned to surplus location;
- In the event of any unresolved issues, the technician shall inform the Deployment Coordinator before leaving end user’s location to arrange appropriate follow-up action;
- Perform image procedure using approved infrastructure, tools (i.e. SCCM) and provided guidelines at the staging rooms
**Job Type**: Permanent
**Salary**: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
**Experience**:
- IT support: 4 years (preferred)
- Desktop support: 4 years (preferred)
- Computer hardware: 3 years (preferred)
- Software troubleshooting: 3 years (preferred)
- Desktop Deployment: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- CompTIA A+ (preferred)
