THE ROLE
We are actively recruiting for three Intern Analyst, Pension Services Actuary, to join our team in Summer 2025, for a 4-month internship (May 5, 2025 - August 29, 2025). The Intern Analyst is responsible for helping to prepare various UPP committee and board presentations, performing various actuarial funding and investment calculations, assisting with asset-liability management studies, and supporting UPP’s engagement, corporate finance, and pension services areas. The incumbent will also be required to have ongoing interactions with external actuaries, legal advisors, auditors, and investment professionals.
This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (approximately two days per week in-office).
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
The key areas of accountability for the Intern Analyst include: (i) supporting cyclical activities such as annual statements and pension indexation, (ii) preparing complex and/or non-routine member benefit calculations, and (iii) supporting other key pension services initiatives.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Pension Services Support
- Projects and tasks include preparing and/or reviewing complex or non-routine annual statements, preparing and/or reviewing pension benefit calculations, pension indexation calculations, supporting data cleansing review and update initiatives, supporting proof of life and missing member initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Completion of second-year actuarial science program or similar mathematical sciences program or completion of an undergraduate degree in actuarial science, finance, or business
- Some actuarial industry, investment or pension plan experience is an asset
- Strong ability to prepare advanced presentations in PowerPoint
- Strong ability to set up and manipulate spreadsheets in Excel
- Some familiarity with pension industry actuarial valuation programs and annuity calculation tools
