Reporting to the Academic Coordinator SHLS, Medical Imaging and Laboratory Sciences department in the School of Health and Life Science, the position is responsible for instructional, clinical and laboratory support in the overall program delivery in the Medical Laboratory programming. The position will also deliver technical lessons in the lab environment independently, under the guidance of instructors, using existing rubrics and assessments tools provided by instructors, to evaluate students in all medical laboratory disciplines.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Instructional Support:

- Independently deliver in lab technical activities/lessons in a variety of medical laboratory disciplines
- Evaluate students based on existing rubrics and assessment tools, provided by instructors, and provide feedback
- Independent supervision of students
- Demonstrate lab equipment when required
- Assist or perform lab demonstrations of equipment under the supervision of instructional support in a variety of MLT disciplines
- Assist instructional staff when required ensuring the safe and correct use of equipment
- Provide feedback to instructors regarding lab exercises

Lab Support:

- Assist in maintaining lab equipment
- Ensure lab safety
- Ensure work area is safe and clean
- Liaise with other sections or programs when required
- Support educational technologists in procurement, preparation, setup and dismantling lab exercises when required
- Assist with maintaining Standard Operating Procedure and safety manuals when required

Student Support:

- Provide tutorial/remedial support
- Assist students in the development and execution of technical projects in cooperation with other staff members
- Ensure students are working in safe conditions

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated professionalism.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Ability to stand and walk for 7.25 hours
- Ability to physically perform standard medical laboratory work
- Ability to work flexible hours and assignments
- A solid working knowledge in clinical setting, safety standards, and equipment operations and maintenance in the medical laboratory field

**Qualifications**:

- A degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized post-secondary institute
- Considerable experience as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Unrestricted General MLT practice permit with the CMLTA
- CSMLS registration is considered an asset
- Experience working with MS Office products and willing to learn other software
- Immunizations’ status and police information checks, as required by the program, may be requested

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

**Remuneration**: $59,603.44 - $79,497.34 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Instructional Assistant II).
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement._
