Metal Recycling Plant Yard Helper

**Location**: 8470 Keele St (Keele & Langstaff)

**Job Type**: Permanent Full-time

**Pay Rate**: From $19.00 per hour and up based upon qualifications and experience

**Day shift**: 7 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday

**Afternoon shift**: 3 pm to 11:30 pm Monday to Friday

As CMI continues to grow, we are looking for a Yard Helper to help us maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. We are looking for individuals who matches our commitment to professionalism, customer service, and strive for excellence.

Job Summary

You will be providing the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation in our outdoor plant.

Key Responsibilities
- Sweep and shovel materials in the yard to keep it safe & clean
- Support organization and general housekeeping
- Sort and process non-ferrous material into respective bins for processing
- Assist in material processing as needed
- Inspect and clear drain basins on a prescribed schedule
- Complete required documentation to record inspections and plant conditions
- Support lunchroom/locker housekeeping staff while on absences/vacations
- Assist in identification & proper cleaning of any spills
- Ensure drive lanes are clear of debris
- Stock and pile surplus skids
- Break down and stack gaylord boxes
- Maintain waste roll-off bins & storage area
- Stock maintenance supplies and maintain organization of spare parts room
- Gather and empty garbage, cardboard, wood bins
- Perform special cleaning projects on equipment
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies need for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Support and drive efforts to reduce waste to landfill
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- High school graduate is an asset
- Ability to perform physical work - lift up to 50lbs
- Previous experience in an industrial environment
- 2 - 3 years of previous industrial cleaning experience is an asset
- Good English communications skills
- Ability to work well with co-workers and independently
- Ability to understand and follow instructions both oral and written
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals
- Strong attention to detail
