**Job Description**:
The People Experience Team promotes excellence in people by supporting TEAM RVH through the employee life cycle by delivering innovative people strategies and programs that attract and retain TEAM RVH and support a highly engaged workforce that feels valued, recognized, and safe and allows them to grow to reach their full potential.
As the Manager, People Partnerships (Human Resources) within the People Experience Team, you are responsible for providing strategic human resources advice and guidance to RVH through the translation of business strategies into people strategies that support the achievement of RVH’s strategic plan. The role provides leadership to the human resources consultants, senior labour relations consultant, labour relations coordinator and total rewards analyst. The role is a generalist position that provides advice and guidance on but not limited to employee relations, labour relations, recruitment, talent development, total rewards, performance management, health and safety, disability management, change management and retention. The role is a strategic partner that focuses on building exceptional credibility and trust with TEAM RVH, union partners and RVH Leadership.
**Qualifications**:
- Education:_
- Undergraduate degree in Business/Human Resources, Industrial Relations or other related field required
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Leader (CHRL) designation preferred
- Experience:_
- Minimum 5-7 years progressively responsible human resources generalist experience in a complex, multi-unionized public sector environment, preferably health care.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Experience leading local collective bargaining as chief negotiator, grievances and arbitration an asset
**Competencies**:
- Sound knowledge of Human Resources leading practices and employment legislation to support a strategically aligned, diverse and engaged workforce
- Significant knowledge and experience managing employee and labour relations issues with the demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships between management and union groups
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.
- Proven consultation, negotiation and consensus building skills with the ability to proactively problem-solve complex issues with a variety of partners
- Strong people leadership capabilities with effective change management experience and demonstrated ability to lead and influence cultural and organizational transformation
- Proven effective leadership of diverse teams and leveraging of diversity
- Solid track record of establishing credibility and building relationships at all levels and providing pro-active and responsive solutions
- Experience challenging the status quo and utilizing innovative thinking and demonstrated analytical problem solving skills
- Strong analytical skills with the proven track record of leveraging the data to build out proactive people strategies
- A track record of driving positive experiences for people through programs, services, and advisory functions
**Responsibilities**:
- Partnering with our unions and leadership to drive strategic labour and employee strategies that support business goals and RVH strategic plan
- Build, develop and provide support to TEAM RVH and leaders through the employee life cycle
- Provide strategic support to leaders and TEAM RVH on recruitment, retention, change, learning, organizational development, people health, people safety and total rewards
- Partnering with union partners to ensure a culture of people first
- Developing and building policies and procedures
- Managing urgent and sensitive employee issues and investigations
- Crafting and implementing strategies to address operational challenges through workforce data
- Resolving legal disputes in a fair and consistent manner
- Facilitating change as well as opportunities for innovation and improvement
- Develop and manage the bargaining strategies, conduct labour market research and gather requirements from business leaders to support total rewards, negotiations and arbitrations.
- Training all partners on any CBA terms and conditions and Total Rewards Programs
- Providing advice and support to the People team on Collective Agreement interpretations
- Monitoring human resources, labour and employment trends to provide strategic advice
- Be accountable for progressive grievance, mediation and arbitration outcomes
- Compensation administration and consulting
- Supports the development of the overall Total Rewards philosophy aligned with RVH’s strategic plan
- Develops, recommends and implements creative and cost effective new or modified total reward plans and policies that provide a competitive employee value proposition in a fiscally sound manner
