As the **Volunteer Coordinator**, you will play a key role in managing, supporting, and nurturing our volunteer program across our Vancouver residences

**About The Role**

You will work closely with our chaplains and activity and recreation team members to coordinate volunteer placements that align with residents’ needs and abilities. This role is centered around Christian ministry and leadership, requiring someone who embodies and promotes Baptist Housing’s Christian values and principles.

**Key Responsibilities**

Volunteer Leadership:

- Demonstrate servant leadership by modeling Jesus Christ’s values in all interactions with volunteers, residents, and team members.
- Foster a culture of Christian values that aligns with the mission and vision of Baptist Housing.
- Support the spiritual care and operational needs of the organization through volunteer management.
- Volunteer Program Development:

- Implement, evaluate, and enhance volunteer programs to ensure they meet residents’ needs.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and placements, ensuring efficient integration with care teams.
- Provide monthly reports on volunteer program effectiveness.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Screening:

- Recruit volunteers from local churches to provide spiritual care services, such as chapel services, Bible reading, prayer, and visitation.
- Oversee the volunteer recruitment process, ensuring proper screening, including reference checks and criminal record checks.
- Coordinate promotional efforts for volunteer recruitment within local communities and churches.

Volunteer Training and Coordination:

- Orient and train volunteers to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in the context of the spiritual and physical care of seniors.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, ensuring they are integrated and aligned with the team’s goals and Baptist Housing’s values.
- Address volunteer feedback and provide solutions as needed, ensuring smooth coordination of activities.
- Volunteer Retention and Recognition:

- Collect and analyze volunteer data to identify areas for improvement and retention strategies.
- Plan and implement recognition activities to honor the contributions of volunteers.
- Ensure volunteers are supported through ongoing development opportunities, including additional training.

Team Collaboration and Support:

- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure volunteer placements complement the holistic care approach.
- Support conflict resolution among residents, team members, and volunteers as required.
- Promote the importance of health and safety practices within the volunteer program.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of experience in volunteer management or related fields, with a strong understanding of volunteer programs in senior care.
- Eligible for membership in volunteer associations such as the Administrators of Volunteer Resources - British Columbia (AVRBC) or Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC).
- Valid First Aid Certificate ensuring the safety and well-being of residents
- Access to personal transportation and be willing to travel between Vancouver-area residences.
- Signing and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Baptist Housing.

You possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and are committed to creating a nurturing and safe environment for both residents and volunteers. Your ability to inspire others through Christian ministry will help guide volunteers to provide exceptional care to our seniors.

**Compensation & Benefits**

We offer an hourly wage between $26.50 and $28.00. Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with a generous four weeks of vacation. Additionally, we provide RRSP matching contributions and support for your ongoing professional development.
