**About PSPS**
The Pacific Spirit Park Society is a community-based volunteer organization that works in partnership with Metro Vancouver through the Regional Park Partners Program. We support the protection and care of Pacific Spirit Regional Park by promoting ecological restoration, environmental monitoring, and education. Our programs empower community members through stewardship, skills development, and hands-on engagement with the Park.

**Job Summary**
The Volunteer and Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the operations and outreach of the Pacific Spirit Park Society. Working closely with Metro Vancouver Regional Parks, volunteers, and the PSPS Board, this position ensures the smooth coordination of ecological restoration programs, public events, volunteer engagement, and administrative tasks. This is a dynamic role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for environmental stewardship.

**Duties**
- Coordinate and attend weekly events (e.g., EcoTEAM, Camosun Bog Restoration Group). You will be responsible for event set-up and take-down.
- Coordinate seasonal programs (e.g., Bat Monitoring, EcoTABLE, etc.) and attend these events as necessary.
- Confirm volunteer attendance and monitor weather for event cancellations.
- Recruit new volunteers and members to PSPS.
- Update the volunteer hour tracking spreadsheet.
- Submit permit and tool requests to Metro Vancouver as required.
- Purchase supplies/snacks for events and manage logistics.
- Draft and submit a monthly Volunteer and Program Coordinator Report.
- Attend monthly executive and board meetings.
- Support and help organize annual events as required.
- Liaise with project leads and Metro Vancouver staff for restoration and outreach projects as required.
- Assist with PSPS Annual General Meeting by producing and providing a volunteer and program coordinator report.
- Contribute to the annual PSPS-Metro Vancouver Joint Workplanning process.
- Provide an invoice to the Pacific Spirit Park Society every two weeks.
- Complete any additional tasks as directed by the PSPS Board of Directors.

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with and leading volunteers, especially in community or environmental contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including event planning, grant writing, and managing environmental or community-based programs.
- Strong public engagement and volunteer leadership skills, with a passion for ecological restoration, environmental monitoring, and education.
- Experience supervising contract workers or volunteers, and familiarity with the structure and operations of non-profit organizations (e.g., working with a board of directors).
- Educational background in ecology, forestry, geography, environmental science, or a related discipline, including a basic understanding of hydrology and watershed processes.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to identify common invasive plant species in the region.
- Knowledge of ecological restoration practices.
- Experience in landscaping, gardening, farming, or similar physical work is considered an asset.
- Valid BC driver’s license (minimum N-class) and reliable access to a vehicle.
- Access to a home office setup with a computer and reliable internet connection.
- Willingness to complete a criminal record check (vulnerable sector not required).
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Proficiency with digital tools, including: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar); Microsoft Office; Intermediate spreadsheet skills (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets); Image editing (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva); Website management (e.g., WordPress); Use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to expedite administrative tasks and improve workflow efficiency is considered an asset.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
