**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director of Operations and support from the Operations Coordinator, the Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient turnaround time of carrying out material and equipment installations, renovations, repairs, event conversions and servicing in the general maintenance in the following areas - carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, painting and ventilation, on properties owned and operated by Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Society.

Reports to: Director of Operations

Position: Full Time & Part time Positions Available

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
Perform all duties with a superior commitment to safe work practices and actively participate in workplace safety initiatives.

Carry out assessment and preventative maintenance to all assigned buildings, appliances, fixtures, utilities and equipment in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Maintain properties and adapt to seasonal requirements including outdoor walkways, and parking areas, drainage system curbs and gutters.

Prepare and complete documentation such as work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs, and inventory records.

Operate electrical and mechanical tools and equipment.

**Qualifications**:
Experience in mechanical maintenance or another trade with skills in Carpentry/ Infrastructure, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs

Grade 12 or equivalent, plus 3 -5 years’ experience in building and property maintenance or a related field.

Knowledge of commercial building technology, basic knowledge of National Building Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act is an asset

Valid class 5 Nova Scotia License

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Ability to work shifts including evenings, weekends and overnights as required

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Knowledge of computer systems is beneficial

Forklift Certification and experience with Tractor operations is an asset

First Aid/CPR certification and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain)
