Operating as a non-profit society since 1977, Etana provides support services to adults with developmental disabilities. We work with individuals in the city of Red Deer with our office located in Red Deer.

We are currently seeking Respite Homes for adults with developmental disabilities in Red Deer. Respite is typically provided over a weekend, but it can involve longer time periods as well. It is essential you have the ability to be a positive role model and provide the required care in a safe and positive environment. Being active and enjoy doing a variety of recreational activities indoors and outdoors an asset.

You will complete your duties in your home and community ensuring that services provided are of the maximum possible benefit to the individual(s) and that services are operated in accordance with standards as set out by Etana, Disability Services and C.A.R.F Accreditation Standards.

All Respite Homes of Etana are required to pass a home assessment/home study.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or Mature Status

Class 5 Driver's License, reliable vehicle and valid insurance (minimum $2,000,000.00 liability)

Experience in Human Service Field

Emergency First Aid Level A CPR

Current Vulnerable Sector check (less than 4 months old)

Home Liability Insurance ($1,000,000.00 Minimum)

Experience in personal care

REQUIRED TRAINING (this training is available through Etana)

Abuse Protocol/ Protection of Persons in Care Act.

Medication Administration

Food Safe

Ergonomics

PPE

SIVA (Supporting Individuals Through Valued Attachments)

Please note that these opportunities are contract positions.

Current opportunities:
1. Providing one weekend per month for a gentleman in his 30’s who enjoys socializing, swimming, bowling, WWE, walking, listening to music and dancing.

2. Providing one weekend per month for a young lady in her 20’s who enjoys making jewelry, art, poetry, journaling, writing, and baking.

3. Providing one weekend per month for a fun energetic lady in her early 20’s. She enjoys being active and creative. Willingness to learn her communication style is needed. She does require support for her G-tube, training will be provided.

4. A unique opportunity is available to provide respite for a woman and her 3 children (all boys). This option might involve providing respite support for all 4, mom by herself or the children by themselves.

5. Providing respite for 2 brothers in their own home. They enjoy gaming, music, being active in their community.

Respite rates will be provided upon successful pre-screen.

**Salary**: $125.00-$250.00 per month
