The position is responsible for providing support and direction to Nutrition Services Staff at Beach Grove Home including supervision of staff, food service management and sanitation & safety. This position reports to the Nutrition Services Manager Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Communicate effectively with employees, other departments, residents and families.
- Conduct or assist in preparation of employee performance management appraisals including annual review and development process.
- Conduct or assist in monthly staff meetings.
- Provide early intervention on human resource issues by meeting with employees, unions and human resources as needed
- Orientate new staff and monitor staff training.
- Providing positive & constructive feedback to staff on an on-going basis.
- Monitoring monthly expenditures and taking and/or recommending as applicable corrective measures to reconcile with budgetary allocation.
- Submitting financial documentation to Nutrition Services Manager as required in accordance with organizational reporting schedules.
- Ordering all food supplies according to the tender contracts.
- Participate in committees and person-centered care initiatives.
- Assist in implementation and evaluation of Nutrition Services Audits and conduct same.
- Ensure all diet information is recorded in a clear concise manner on each resident/patient tray according to diet requisition.
- Remains up to date and current with department and facility policies and processes that support client safety.
- other related duties. Minimum Qualifications:
- The successful applicant must have completion of Food Service Supervision Course through the Canadian Hospital Association, plus two years’ experience in an Institutional setting; or Degree in Family and Nutritional Sciences, plus two years’ experience in an Institutional setting.
- Must have supervisory/management experience in either long term care or an acute care setting including responsibility for financial and human resource management.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated ability to be extremely organized, self-motivated, flexible and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must have proficiency in scheduling, payroll, purchasing and inventory control.
- Must have experience in conflict resolution skills.
- Must have proficiency in computer skills.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- A good previous work and attendance record. Other Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Oracle and Peoplesoft are considered an asset.
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset. Salary Range: $30.18
