Summer Student - Medical Clinic Assistant

Orleans Family Health Clinic is a patient centered community clinic in Orleans. We are located in a medical center and provide comprehensive patient focused care to our clients.

**Conditions**: Summer position for Full Time for 10 weeks from April to September

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) wage subsidy program. Eligible student participants must**:

- HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AS FULL-TIME STUDENTS IN THE PREVIOUS ACADEMIC YEAR AND INTEND TO RETURN TO SCHOOL ON A FULL-TIME BASIS IN THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR;**
**- BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN, PERMANENT RESIDENT OR PERSON TO WHOM REFUGEE PROTECTION HAS BEEN CONFERRED UNDER THE IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE PROTECTION ACT; AND,**
**- HAVE A VALID SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER AT THE START OF THE EMPLOYMENT AND BE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO WORK IN CANADA IN ACCORDANCE WITH RELEVANT PROVINCIAL/TERRITORIAL LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS.**

We are looking for an energetic, reliable student to join our team.

Must have great customer service skills, be able to work in a supervised workplace and be able to maintain a neat and tidy work environment.

An interest in working in a healthcare setting and a good understanding of the sensitivities, professionalism and confidentiality involved in working in the medical field.

Ability to work cooperatively with staff, professionals, physicians and patients

The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
General clerical and tidiness duties

Patient greeting and confirmation of accuracy of all pertinent demographic information

Answering phones, faxing, checking patients into clinic, phoning patients to confirm appointments,

Scanning and filing medical records

Data entry of patient care information into EMR software database,

Must be willing to lift boxes, small items and furniture, organize storage locker and file room, and carry/shelve supplies.

Students registered in a Nursing, Physician assistant or Allied Health Care program will be given the opportunity to participate in patient care activities that are commensurate with their studies and qualifications.

**proficient computer/data/entry skills Microsoft Office.**

**WORK HOURS**:
Flex schedule that may include some Saturday Mornings - Sunday and Holidays Off.

Interest in Medicine, Nursing and Healthcare is valued but experience in these fields is not required.

This position is ideal for students currently studying in a University or College Health Care Education Program. Full time returning students in a Nursing, Physician Assistant, or Health Care Administration Programs are encouraged to apply

Senior High School Students with an interest in pursuing Medicine, Nursing or Allied Medical Careers are also encouraged to apply.

Computer skills essential. Bilingual French/English is an asset.

On the job training and supervision will be provided.

Workplace Covid safety protocols and precautions in place.

**Salary**: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
