**Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.**

**SCOPE**:
The Building Custodian is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the LSS and/or LRR sites.

This is a full time, community-based position. The hours are Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Ensures the facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary, and timely manner
- Ensure cleaning and custodial work duties are completed daily in accordance with deadlines
- Escalate any custodial, maintenance and/or safety issues to the supervisor as necessary for resolution
- Performs general housekeeping and janitorial duties including but not limited to mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting
- Cleans and assists in the kitchen
- assists in unloading foodstuffs from plane, helps stock foodstuffs in kitchen
- Cleans the employee rooms during periods when vacant
- Responds to colleague’s and other onsite enquiries and requests in a professional and prompt manner
- Identifies any concerns to supervisor immediately
- Perform other related tasks that are unplanned or transient in nature.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**:
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

**CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S)**:
A valid driver’s license

**EXPERIENCE**:
Requires prior work experience with janitorial functions

**KNOWLEDGE OF**:
Safety guidelines including those** **to cleaning supplies and chemicals

**COMPETENCIES / SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Familiar with common cleaning chemicals and products
- Ability to read and write in English and understand/follow directions
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel as part of a small team to adjacent sites to perform functions
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), as required
- Ability to work under physically demanding, often adverse weather conditions in remote Arctic locations
- Demonstrated positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and customer service ability
- Team orientated, strong work ethic, reliable
