**JOB SUMMARY**
Niagara Region has one intern position available within our Human Resources department with our Health, Safety & Wellness team. As an intern, you will provide expertise and leadership that will help the Corporation reach its goal of supporting and advancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

**EDUCATION**
- Must have graduated from a post-secondary program in Human Resources or Kinesiology or related field of study within the last 18 months

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Ability to handle confidential data, information and sensitive issues
- Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and independently

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Employee Health Services intern will work directly with Manager, Health & Safety Wellness providing support by- Learning of Short Term (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits
- Understanding the process of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and policies that govern legislative requirements
- Supporting the Employee Health Services (EHS) team and learn the process of claims management
- Learning software programs that support EHS team and document processes in clear detail manner
- Document the claims process of WSIB and the process that supports alternate suitable work
- Update standard operating procedures
- Updating Physical Demands Analysis (PDA)

- Ability to interpret and analyze data
- Ability to work alone, as well as in a team
- Self-motivated, confident and responsible
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Work in collaboration with internal clients and other HR teams
- Attentive to detail and resourceful.

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- The Niagara Region requires that all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired and provide proof of full vaccination, or provide proof of a bona fide medical or Human Rights Code exemption on a form issued from and approved by Niagara Region.
