**Reports To: Senior Legal Counsel**

**Position Summary**:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of Senior Counsel, the Legal Assistant will provide support to in-house counsel and child protection staff in the creation and preparation of court documentation. The Legal Assistant will also provide administrative and legal clerical support to in-house counsel and front-line staff involved in child protection proceedings.

**Requirements of the Position**:**
- Community College Diploma in the Law Clerk program, five years’ experience in a legal office, and previous experience in the child protection legal field with proven skills in drafting of child protection legal documents; or equivalent combination of experience, education and competence acceptable to the Executive Director.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated personal integrity and responsibility.
- Knowledge of court rules and expectations of the court office.
- Knowledge of legal citations and ability to do basic legal research such as obtaining copies of cited cases or copies of statutes or regulations.
- Knowledge of child protection clinical practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe, and other related software, office procedures and use of office equipment.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Fully IN-PERSON position.

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: $51,404.00-$61,151.00 per year

**Experience**:

- legal office: 5 years (required)
- child protection sector: 1 year (preferred)
