**Salary will be based on level of experience, 5 years being the MINIMUM level of experience required.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan, organize, direct and run day-to-day shop operations.
- Liaise with project managers and general foreman regarding production priorities and timelines.
- Read drawings to determine material requirements.
- Order material from various suppliers in an efficient and cost-effective way, negotiate pricing and deliveries.
- Ensure material is received as ordered, contact supplier and resolve any material issues.
- Assign and oversee work for fabricators, welders and shop labourers.
- As staff numbers grow, ensure equipment and safety needs are met.
- Conduct inventory audits of both raw material and fabricated product.
- Oversee and direct shipping manager.
- Work with site foreman on what materials and equipment are required on site. Oversee that requirements make it to site.
- Direct and oversee that all shop and site tools/equipment are logged, tracked and repaired as necessary.
- Learn and use all software proficiently ie. Outlook, Excel, Humi, Procore
- Lead and encourage staff to operate at a high level of effectiveness.
- Ensure the shop and yard are adequately stocked, clean and in good operating order.
- Effectively lead, direct and positively influence shop staff.
- Ensure all shop staff adheres to safety standards, company policies and procedures.
- Visit job sites to assess & evaluate progress.
- Assist with appraising performance, hiring, training and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Foster a cooperative, supportive and respectful environment for all staff members.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 5 years previous experience in a similar role in a metal fabrication shop.
- Structural Steel MIG welding fitting in a fabrication environment, 5 years.
- Complete knowledge of metal fabrication processes and workflows.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical documents and drawings.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Ability to solve problems and work independently.
- Willingness to work co-operatively with others to achieve team goals and objectives.
- Able to multi-task and manage various tasks and activities with attention to detail.

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
