**ROLE**

Reporting to the Project Health and Safety Manager, the Project Health and Safety Coordinator will ensure that activities that are being conducted on work sites are in compliance with Project Specific Safety Plans and the Project Health and Safety Management Plan. One of the primary accountabilities of the role will be to ensure that field observations are being conducted on work sites and ensuring compliance to the Project and Company Site Specific Emergency Response Plan.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Implement, coach and inform employees of Company Safety Policies through regular site visits, safety meetings, and tailgate attendance.
- Assess compliance with the applicable safety codes, procedures, relevant documentation, and commitments.
- Perform site inspections, audits and assist with investigations.
- Audit initiatives to ensure that newly identified risks, hazards, or behaviours are effectively managed.
- Assist Construction Managers, Project Managers and Superintendents in ensuring compliance at the work location.
- Work directly with a team of safety professionals to successfully contribute to ensuring regular site inspections, coaching, and development a culture of which safety is a key value.
- Support operations and functional management in the achievement of corporate initiatives.
- Perform site inspections as per Health & Safety Manual schedule.
- Participate and assist in the investigation of incidents to determine cause.
- Communicate any significant issues or concerns with the Project Safety Lead for direction.
- Conduct inspections of training records including H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level I and Ground Disturbance Level II, Fall Protection, Respiratory fit testing, Red Seal certifications / tickets.
- Conduct Inspection of Company Emergency Response Equipment and Emergency Response Training.
- Conduct Review of Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) documents and maintenance records.
- Review of Company programs including new and young workers, fatigue management, Alcohol and Drug, confined space entry. Etc.
- Review of Company procedures including steep slopes, clearing, grading, stringing, lowering in, back-fill, tie-ins, railroad work.
- Conduct review of fire prevention plans, training records and fire suppression equipment.
- Conduct review of Avalanche Plan, training records and location/rescue equipment.
- Report weekly statistics on leading indicators (tailgate/safety meetings, BBSO) and disciplinary actions, modified work cases.
- Ensure that hazards (slips, trips, moving equipment, etc.) are identified and mitigated (PPE, securement, grounding, etc.) and that Behavioral Based Safety observations are being conducted actions, post-incident A&D tests conducted.

**EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**
- At least 5-7 years of experience in a safety related position in the oil & gas pipeline construction industry.
- Health and Safety experience within the pipeline construction industry will be a definite asset.
- Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes (Alberta and British Columbia) and how it pertains to daily field tasks.
- Ability to read and understand relevant documentation pertaining to the successful and safe completion of each project (legislation, Company and Client Safety Management systems, manuals and other industry specific standards/practices).
- Proven understanding of the effective management of incidents, and near hits.
- Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards, and practices focusing on pipelines.
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

**EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION**
- Degree or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Professional Health and Safety Designation (CSP, CRSP, CMIOSH) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is an asset.

This position is based at our Project site in British Columbia.
