**Working for the Faculty of Science**

With over 8000 undergraduate students, the Faculty of Science has the largest undergraduate population at the University of Alberta. We offer degrees in 29 areas of study, spanning 12 teaching departments, and work-integrated learning opportunities that allow students to test drive their future careers.

The Science Student Services office serves as the academic home to undergraduate Science students, offering a welcoming and supportive environment for students, staff and faculty. It is a place of belonging across cultures and people.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Internships & Work Integrated Learning Officer, the Industry Relations Coordinator is part of a team that manages Internship placements and other forms of work-integrated learning opportunities for undergraduate students.

The role of the Industry Relations Coordinator is to manage existing and new employer relationships with the Faculty of Science, resulting in meaningful opportunities that strengthen the connections between academia and industry.

**Duties**
- Develop connections and build relationships with industry partners to generate job placements for undergraduate students enrolled in the Science Internship Program.
- Gather and analyze employer data to identify trends or gaps, and to develop effective engagement plans that serve to strengthen employer relationships while also improving the student experience.
- Support the development of feedback channels that help to identify gaps in training or industry needs not met by students.
- Develop employer resources that support positive working environments and relationships for students.
- Facilitate workshops and promote SIP strengths to industry partners
- Collaborate with the Work Experience coordinator to onboard internship employers and provide backup support to the Work Experience Coordinator when needed (Site visits, job postings, workshops for student/employer interactions, etc.).
- In collaboration with the Innovation Centre Coordinator, develop industry connections that leverage the Student Innovation Centre (SIC) and the student-led projects being developed within.
- Connect campus and industry partners to funding programs that supplement internship placements.
- With direction from the Internships and WIL Officer, support the development or expansion of an effective CRM system that supports all WIL opportunities in Science.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- An undergraduate degree
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships, to work collegially with various stakeholders (within and outside of the campus community), and to plan and implement programming
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, including a strong ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing competing priorities
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
- Some evening and weekend work will be required, along with light travel (trade shows and events etc.)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- 1-2 years of progressive work experience that demonstrates a customer service focus in delivering a product, project or service to the organization
- Relevant experience in cooperative education and career education
- Knowledge of the university environment (preferably the University of Alberta)
