_**Nursery Technician (student position)**_
- **May 20th, 2024 - August 29, 2025 (15 week contract)**_
The PEI Watershed Alliance is contracted by the provincial government to deliver the “Watershed Area and Smaller Sites” stream of the PEI 2 Billion Trees program (2BT). As a part of this program stream, we have developed a bare root tree seedling nursery to further diversify our planting stream.
**Duties**:
- Contribute to the PEIWA nursery project by weeding, pruning, and watering to ensure optimal growth.
- Monitor trees for damage caused by animals and disease.
- Planting trees.
- Help keep the nursery clean and organized.
- Support the Nursery Project Manager and the PEIWA 2 Billion Trees Coordinator in their general duties.
- Other duties as needed.
**Requirements**:
- This position is funded through the Post Secondary Student Program and is only open to
students who are entering or returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the Fall. Please
explain in your cover letter how you meet this criteria.
- Must have reliable transportation or ability to get to the work site and bring their own steel-toed boots.
- Willingness to work in different weather and site conditions.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
- **Helpful skills for the position**_
- Understanding of growth cycles and plants needs.
- Familiarity with the native trees of PEI and tree identification skills.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule.
- Strong writing abilities.
- **Remuneration**_: $20/hour plus 4% vacation pay for 37.5 hours per week
