**Position Overview**:
The **Early Childhood Specialist & Assistant Director (Hybrid Role)** at ADE Laval plays a dual role in ensuring the educational excellence and operational stability of our flagship private preschool. This is a leadership-level hybrid role that combines direct classroom leadership and coaching with early morning & afternoon administrative responsibilities to support the Director of Education.
ADE Laval’s core team of six Early Childhood Specialists are recognized as network leaders and ambassadors of ADE’s mission. They lead classrooms and drive educational excellence while contributing to network-wide leadership projects, training, and professional initiatives. Within this environment, the Assistant Director works closely under the supervision of the Director of Education, ensuring smooth daily operations and representing leadership when the Director of Education is not on-site.
This is a **full-time permanent & salaried role** with a fixed schedule and clear opportunities for professional growth within ADE’s leadership pathway.
**Core Responsibilities**:
Educational Leadership & Classroom Teaching Role (approx. 50%)
- Work directly in the classroom leading a group of children as a teaching Early Childhood Specialist.
- Provide coaching, modeling, and support to other educators to strengthen program quality.
- Pilot and implement new educational initiatives, ensuring ADE Laval sets the standard for innovation across the network.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents, offering communication and guidance on children’s developmental progress.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities (approx. 50%)
- Support the Director of Education by taking on early morning & afternoon administrative duties.
- Oversee health and safety compliance, ensuring daily standards are consistently met.
- Manage staff scheduling, prepare and send out staff hours, and ensure alignment with approved time off, ratios, and budget.
- Monitor, track, and place supply and inventory orders within approved budgets.
- Respond to family inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner; escalate significant issues to the Director of Education.
- Report staff concerns directly to the Director of Education and redirect staff to appropriate supervisors when needed.
- Assist with logistics for school-wide events, parent initiatives, and workshops.
- Complete required documentation and reporting with oversight from the Director of Education.
- Contribute to network-wide projects and initiatives as assigned.
Leadership & Representation
- Act as on-site leader when the Director of Education is not present (off-site meetings, vacation, days off).
- Provide direction and support to staff and families during those times, ensuring continuity of leadership and operational stability.
- Collaborate daily with the Director of Education to align on priorities, communication, and delegation.
- Represent ADE with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Professional Development & Growth
- Participate in leadership coaching and professional development opportunities provided by ADE.
- Build administrative and leadership skills in preparation for potential future advancement.
- Serve as a model of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous learning within the educator team.
**Work Schedule & Daily Flow**:
- Early Morning (7:30-9:00 AM): Administrative duties and opening the center alongside another Early Childhood Specialist.
- Mid-Morning until Lunch: Teaching and classroom responsibilities, ensuring smooth classroom operations through the morning program until nap.
- Afternoon until End of Day: Administrative responsibilities including scheduling, documentation, event planning, family communications, and leadership support.
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- Fully qualified educator status according to MFA
- DEC, AEC, or recognized equivalent in Early Childhood Education
- 5+ years of experience in a preschool or childcare setting (leadership experience an asset)
