**JOB SUMMARY**
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Assistant Director Distribution and Transportation plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates Distribution and Logistics Operations in North America and overseas. He is involved in all aspects of the movement of goods. He manages a team of approximately 7 to 8 employees. He optimizes Logistics department processes. He ensures that the necessary information related to Distribution & Logistics is communicated to stakeholders in due time.
**RESPONSABILITIES**
**Ground Transport Management**:
- To communicate effectively with Canadian and U.S. carriers.
- To negotiate and review transportation rates, including FTL rates.
- To track transportation requests to anticipate needs.
- To update MSDs annually with the new rates.
**Maritime Transport Management**:
- To monitor and evaluate freight forwarder performance.
- To analyze shipping rates and select freight forwarders based on cost and performance.
- To manage peak volumes and vacations to optimize unloading and reduce costs.
- To approve freight invoices and analyze overload variances.
**Customs Management**:
- To manage the Customs Brokers service and see if the service can be optimized.
- To manage customs audits and follow up on CBSA and CBP audit requests.
- To ensure HS, NAFTA, HTS codes are updated for all products.
- To document audit fees and refunds requested.
- To maintain updated exclusion report for CBP refunds.
**Warehouse management (3PL)**:
- To optimize the distribution of customer orders among the 15 3PLs.
- To monitor the use of warehousing space by each 3PL.
- To seek out new warehousing opportunities and negotiate contracts.
- To manage returns and customer complaints.
**Team Management**:
- To recruit, train and supervise Distribution and Logistics Teams.
- To ensure optimal coverage of Operations.
- To develop employee skills through training and development programs.
- To ensure a safe working environment in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
**REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Operations and Logistics Management.
- At least two years' experience in Team Management.
- Knowledge of the international sourcing manufacturing sector.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and emergencies.
- Thoroughness and attention to details.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Multi-site experience.
- French and English advanced level - oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills: Excel, Outlook, WMS, TMS.
