Position Summary
The incumbent assists in the manufacturing of wood utility poles. Regular duties include inspection, cleaning, measuring, and cutting as directed. The work is physical and requires walking on uneven ground outdoors in all weather conditions. Position may require overtime, and/or afternoon hours.
Principal Responsibilities
- Measure, inspect and verify quality and classification of all round stock to ANSI, CSA or Corporate standards.
- Operate chainsaw, hand tools, tag, clean and prepare poles for shipping to treatment plants.
- Document and report material in computer, as processed.
- Maintain tools, equipment, supplies and work areas.
- Assist in shipping and receiving of materials, tallying, identification, records and information.
- Participate and contribute to company safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Experience utilizing hand tools-drills, peaveys, chainsaws, wizards, hammers, tape measures etc.
- First Aid Certification, an asset
- Always demonstrate a strong focus on safety
- Support a respectful environment and works well in a team setting.
- Must possess basic math skills.
- Ability to lift 50-75lbs continually
- Knowledge of wood products and defects
- Able to learn and acquire new skills

Additional forestry skills such as log scaling, loader operator, log peeling and other machine operations will be valuable assets in progressing to other positions in the yard. However, in house training is provided.
