The Ministry is responsible for: developing and evaluating curriculum; teacher development and certification; supporting students with diverse learning needs; funding and supporting school boards; First Nations, Métis and Inuit and Francophone education; and overseeing basic education policy and regulations.
**Role Responsibilities**:
The Resource Development Consultant plays a key role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality learning and teaching resources that support Alberta’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) curriculum. This position contributes to strategic initiatives that ensure resources are current, relevant, and aligned with ministry priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis to inform the development and prioritization of curriculum-aligned resources, drawing on current educational research and stakeholder input.
- Manage resource development projects, including permissions, procurement, and coordination with internal teams or external partners through grants and contracts.
- Establish and maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the education sector to ensure timely information sharing and issue resolution.
- Support the identification of emerging needs and trends in education to guide resource planning and development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of resource development processes and participate in strategic initiatives as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support divisional goals.

- **Collaborative Environments**: Leads the collaborative development of learning and teaching resources. This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create resources that can be utilized by a diverse audience.
- **Agility**: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines to meet project deliverables. Modeling positivity and optimism is critical to keep teams motivated and engaged. Diverse partners across provincial school authorities have unique resource needs, which will be supported; not all needs will be met by the province. A solution to best serve students across the province will need to be developed and be agile enough to change as relevant technology, program policy, and jurisdictional needs change, always with an eye for continuous improvement.
**Qualifications**:
Master's Degree in a related field plus five years related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus seven years of related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
- Bilingualism in English and French are a requirement.
**Desirable skills and assets**
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s K-12 education system and relevant legislation (e.g., Education Act).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
