**Status**: Full Time

**Job Summary**: Reporting to the Director of Operations and working collectively with the Site Superintendent the NCSO will work to ensure compliance with Todd & Sargent Health, Safety and Environment Safety Program, and the Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support site supervision with implementation and management of the Todd & Sargent Safety Program
- Work with site Superintendent, General Foreman and Foreman to develop and facilitate an overall proactive safety culture on the work site
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with COR certification standards and Provincial Regulations.
- Act as a resource to field personnel to provide coaching, mentoring, and advice on all HS&E related matters
- Conduct monthly Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee meetings
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments on job sites.
- Ensure that the Site-Specific Safety Plan and Emergency Response Plan are updated accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections and incidents.
- In conjunction with the Site Superintendent investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Conduct new and young worker hire safety orientations. This will include subcontractors and visitor site-specific orientation.
- Monitor that appropriate safety training is occurring for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees.
- Maintain a complete list of appropriate safety training for subcontractors.
- Keep up to date with industry safety standards and regulations and ensure the company’s compliance.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement on the job site.
- Serve as the point of contact for all safety-related matters and liaise with site supervision, workers and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Maintain site HS&E statistics.
- Maintain the HS&E safety communication bulletin board to ensure required documentation is readily available for review and audit purposes.
- Ensure that safety equipment and the required personal protective equipment is in place as required.
- Facilitate safety meetings and assist action items brought up in the HS&E meetings as required.
- Maintain field presence and document daily observations.
- Review field level hazard assessments, hazard identification, observation, and inspection forms daily to ensure completion and accuracy.
- Perform work site inspections in accordance with Todd & Sargent HS&E program
- Assist in the administration, documentation and management of the Company’s COR program.
- Ongoing training for WHMIS/GHS and updates the SDS binder.
- Other responsibilities as requested by the site management.

**Qualifications**:

- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, CRSP or CHSP would be an asset.
- 3-5 years’ HS&E experience in an industrial construction environment, would be an asset.
- Valid Driver's License and Clean Driver’s Abstract.
- End-User Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Monitor & Rescue and Intermediate First Aid.
- Ability to build, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
- Ability to remain objective and maintain a factual perspective when dealing with questions and inquiries.
- Sense of urgency and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a fast-paced working environment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to deliver a message to a large group.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
- Understand the dynamics of working with unionized and non-unionized trades.
