Reporting to the Director Occupational Health & Safety and supporting the work of the Ontario Health and Safety Business Partner the WSIB Claims Coordinator will be responsible for filing Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims for workplace injuries and/or industrial diseases for selected Bayshore Divisions/locations in the province of Ontario. This will include administration of the Board’s WSIB processes, following up with Injured Employees and Supervisors to ensure timely filing of WSIB Form 7s, coordinating with branch level leadership the early and safe return to work in collaboration with all stakeholders.
As the WSIB claims Coordinator, you will maintain a claims management process, and act as a resource to branch/location management while maintaining regular contact with Injured Employees and the WSIB. Maintaining confidentiality of claim related personal health information and other case-related documentation is an ongoing requirement as you communicate with the various workplace parties in the return-to-work process.
You will also be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and auditing compensation claims for legitimacy, possible challenges, trends analysis and cost control. This will include working with the Ontario Health and Safety Business partner to assist them in their preparation of claims appeals and complex return to work scenarios and representing Bayshore up to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) level.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for full-cycle of workers' compensation claims management from claim onset to completion of RTW
- Liaising with management, colleagues, and external agencies to support an effective return to work and transition employees to pre-injury responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact for staff on leave by securing medical documentation and establishing and presenting accommodation work plans using Functional Abilities Information and restrictions obtained from medical professionals and/or generally accepted restrictions.
- Draft professional level correspondence in the conducting of daily duties and work / WSIB related communications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of human resources practices and processes, collective agreements, Board policies and procedures, and legislation specific to the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Employment Standards Act, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and ability to respond constructively to pressure and emotional situations, and deal with conflicts or complaints.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to enable effective and constructive interactions with Employees, Managers, and Third-Party Insurance Representatives on sensitive and confidential issues.
- Excellent organization, time management, problem-solving and record-keeping skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with constant demands, deadlines, and interruptions.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety committees and ensure a follow-up with all external partners.
- Responsible for producing reports for and claim cost projections.
- Familiarity with Parklane
- Participate in investigations and accident analysis and recommend corrective measures.
- Perform other related support duties.

Job Qualification
**Education and Experience**
- University Degree or College Diploma related to Disability Management, Healthcare, Nursing, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, Human Resources, Legal Studies
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ work experience in case managing WSIB claims including workplace accommodations.
- Professional designation preferred such as, but not limited to: Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Return-to-Work Coordinator (CRTWC), Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/L), Human Resources Certificate, Disability Management Certificate/Diploma, Paralegal
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in disability/claims management/safety
