**Local Engineering Firm Seeking Laboratory Supervisor**

A full-time, permanent position, based in Victoria, BC, the **Laboratory Supervisor** will be responsible for supervising field and laboratory staff and activities. The Lab Supervisor is expected to set a standard for behavior, provide oversight of day-to-day lab operations and provide a safe work environment to anyone using the lab. The Lab Supervisor will provide guidance and supervision to lab and field staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

The **Laboratory Supervisor** is also expected to be knowledgeable in construction materials testing and be responsible for project planning, testing and report writing. It is vital that the Lab Supervisor be proactive and display initiative in their work. This person should be able to participate directly in the tasks and activities of the laboratory, as well as train and direct junior staff to do the same. The **Laboratory Supervisor** reports directly to the Lab Manager.

**The main duties and responsibilities for this position includes**:

- Ensure safety and compliance with safety rules for all laboratory staff.
- Works with clients to schedule and when required perform the daily field and laboratory tasks.
- Quality assurance in the laboratory, including inspections, testing and record keeping.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting and documentation to clients.
- Test concrete and cement-based products including: sample preparation, testing and analysis.
- Use of a **nuclear density gauge** is an asset; including understanding gauge results to meet and exceed compaction specifications, ability to safely operate, maintain and calibrate a device.
- Supervise laboratory staff to ensure their continued productivity, engagement and growth.
- Writing laboratory reports, reviewing reports and documents written by others.
- Provide technical support to clients.

**Requirements**:
Math and personal communication skills, a valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record. The ability to lift at least 50lbs on a regular basis is required.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, are organized and have the ability to develop and drive team objectives and build ethical work relationships.

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
