**THE ROLE**:
The “Therapeutic Foster Care” program at The Family Centre is a unique approach to foster care that emphasizes the therapeutic needs of youth, matches caregivers with therapeutic supervisors, and empowers these individuals to provide safe home environments for children and youth whose trauma-based needs cannot be adequately provided for in traditional foster or group care. The goal of the program is for youth to have increased family and cultural connections and become reunified with their family or community.

The Therapeutic Supervisor is involved in the training, equipping, and supervision of the caregivers. Supervisors in this program provide support for caregivers of marginalized youth ages 13-17 who have Children’s Services involvement. This includes a significant proportion of Urban Indigenous, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit individuals, refugees and first-generation Canadians, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals that have experienced the impacts of colonization, trauma, and multigenerational abuse and neglect.

The Clinical Supervisor is a member of Leadership, a team of managers and supervisors from all different service areas of the Family Centre. The Clinical Supervisor reports to the Manager of Therapeutic Foster Care.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum Master’s degree in psychology, therapy, counseling, or related field.
- Certified and registered with a professional association and in good standing
- Minimum of three years of experience with counseling or experience working with vulnerable families in a therapeutic or supervisory role.

**MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS**:

- Police Information Check
- Vulnerable Sector
- Child Intervention Records Check
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Standard First Aid Level C CPR
- Awareness of Indigenous worldviews
- Reliable Vehicle, available for regular use and valid driver’s license
- Brain Story Certification Training (must be completed within the first 1 year of employment)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Orients and trains new caregivers in consultation with the Manager of Therapeutic Foster Care.
- Follows and keeps up to date on evidence-based therapeutic interventions from both Western and Indigenous frameworks.
- Regularly meets in caregivers’ home to provide therapeutic supervision using The Family Centre’s Wellbeing Framework guiding theories and modalities
- Ability to respond to clinical/client emergencies and review critical incident reports.
- Provides ongoing group supervision to caregivers with a focus on clinical consults, Trauma Informed Care, and related approaches.
- Audit files to ensure the program’s paperwork objectives are met ethically
- Performs annual Caregiver Development Plans.
- Monitors and analyzes qualitative and quantitative program and client data to support program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Encourages ongoing professional development and self-care strategies for caregivers.
