The Halton Regional Police Service contributes to the safety and well-being of more than 620,000 residents in Halton Region which includes the Towns of Milton, Halton Hills and Oakville, and the City of Burlington. **About the Role: How You will Contribute to The Service**

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) offers the Police Ethnic and Cultural Education Youth Leadership Program (PEACE) twice a year. Local youth, ages 14-17, in grades 9 to 12 from Halton Region are selected to participate. The program includes 11 sessions focused on HRPS operations and the region's cultural diversity. Participants must attend all session of the program to graduate.

The PEACE program will run from October 2, 2025 to December 11, 2025, offering approximately 22 hours of volunteer work upon completion.

**Here’s What You’ll Get to Do**:

- Attend 11 engaging volunteer sessions to learn about policing, community diversity, leadership, and teamwork.
- Interact with members of the HRPS to improve your cultural proficiency, community service, communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
- You will interact with, and learn about, the many aspects of policing and learn about leadership and teamwork.
- Make positive working relationships.
- Participate in exciting activities like:

- A “Day in the Life of a Police Officer”
- Hands on training with our Training Bureau
- Learn investigative skills
- Work as a team to investigate a real police occurrence
- Learn about our Victim Service Unit and HRPS’ Wellness Unit
- Hands-on demonstrations and an inside look at HRPS’ specialized units, including Tactical, K9, Crisis Negotiators, Forensic Identification, and more

**Is the PEACE Leadership program for You?**
**Applicants must meet the following criteria**:

- Be a resident of Halton Region
- Must be age 14 -17 years, attending grade 9 to 12 in good standing
- Must have an interest in policing and diversity
- Must not have any criminal charges pending before the court
- Are legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Would benefit from this developmental opportunity regarding leadership responsibility
- Successfully complete the recruitment / background check process
- Agree to a mentoring relationship with our fellow officers and/or civilian members
- Available to attend the entire full 11-week unpaid volunteer program
- Must not have previously participated in the PEACE Youth Leadership Program
- Note: The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include with verification of endorsement/recommendation, and a criminal background screen._

**Volunteer Hours**: Up to 2 hours per week: Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

**Location**: This position is based out of Oakville at the following police facilities:

- Halton Regional Police Headquarters -2485 North Service Road, Oakville Ontario
- Halton Regional Police 2 District (October 20, 2025 only) - 95 Oak Walk Drive, Oakville Ontario

**Transportation**: PEACE students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the location at the beginning and end of the Volunteer hours
