By planning and conducting research and analysis on urban and rural planning, policy, municipal and stakeholder land use issues, and their inter-relationships, you'll be promoting strong communities in the province.
**About Us**
The Provincial Land Use Policy Branch is within the Housing and Planning Policy Division of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. It is responsible for leading the research, analysis, and development of policy and legislation related to Ontario's provincial land use plans and policies, such as the Provincial Planning Statement, the Greenbelt Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Parkway Belt West Plan. The Branch also serves as the secretariat to the Greenbelt Council.
**Provincial Plans Unit**
The Provincial Policies and Planning Unit within the Branch is responsible for researching, analyzing, developing and monitoring land use planning policies concerning the Greenbelt Plan, Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan, and the Parkway Belt West Plan.
**About the job**: You will:
- Analyze land use planning and growth management policies, and recommend options to support decision-making
- Conduct research and interpret data to identify trends, emerging issues, and solutions
- Develop strategies to implement programs and policies
- Work with ministries, agencies, and stakeholders to create coordinated, innovative planning solutions
- Prepare and present reports, briefings, and materials to senior leaders and support consultations on new initiatives

**Research and Analytical Skills**: You can:
- Conduct a variety of data analysis to develop policy options;
- Analyze and interpret results to develop recommendations for policy and research initiatives;
prioritize tasks and ensure timelines are met.
**Communication Skills**: You have:
- Strong written communication skills to prepare and develop a range of reports
- Effective verbal communication skills to explain issues clearly and liaise with staff, agencies, and other jurisdictions
**Technical Knowledge**: You have:
- An understanding of the organization's plans and processes, which you use to provide advice on programs and policies
- Knowledge of policy development
**Stakeholder Management Skills**: You can:
- Build, track and maintain relationships with stakeholders;
- Consult with partner ministries and stakeholders;
- Consult with senior management, present policy options, and resolve stakeholder issues effectively.
