Title: Estimator

Division: Operations

Reports To: Operations & General Manager

Job Qualifications & Competencies:

- Familiarity with structural steel work especially in a marine environment
- Engineering degree (mechanical) or Technologist Diploma, or experience in-lieu
- 5 years estimating experience
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Proven proficiency with MS Office Suite & CAD
- Detail oriented
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Works well in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight time-frames
- Must be able to board large vessels. Not afraid of heights or tight quarters
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Be able to attain a Reliability Security Clearance

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop cost estimates and co-ordinate proposals for estimating projects
- Be able to multitask, self-prioritize quotes based on date of submittal
- Participate in pre and/or post bid meetings as required
- Coordinate with subcontractors for the preparation of material take-offs
- Work with other departments to obtain quotations for materials, sub-contract work, freight and other inputs
- Travel when required to viewings to assist in bid or quote preparations
- Comply with regulatory and corporate HSE and Quality requirements
- Revise estimates and implement required changes when required
- Review and thoroughly understand project specifications and relay details to Operations and General Manager prior to proceeding with estimate
- Work with management to establish labour costs, man-hours and project procedures
- Write up proposals to be forwarded to customer pending the review and approval of management
- Generate quote letters with Terms and Conditions and job estimate sheet
- Review quote letters, Terms & Conditions and job estimates with appropriate management
- Monitor & ensure bid format meets client’s standards for submission
- Log & maintain all RFQ’s in the estimating tracking system
- Work Overtime when required to meet deadlines
- Assist in preparation of contracts, negotiations and revisions with subcontractors
- Perform turnover of client accepted quotes with Production and

Operations
- Prepare weekly metrics report and brief senior management on current

and rendered quote status
- Have reliable means of transport to and from company each day
- Converse in a professional manner at all times
- Monitor tender sites. Report to Executive Management all opportunities presented on these sites which offer the potential for work within the company’s capabilities
- Maintain client relations by being the lead contact for the RFQ until award of contract
