**Full Time Line Cook**

Democracy* is a vegan restaurant and bakery cafe located on Locke Street South in Hamilton. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the majority of our menu items are prepared from scratch in-house.

We are seeking an experienced, and talented Full Time Line Cook/ Prep cook to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes from scratch and working as an effective team member to ensure that all orders are prepared quickly, accurately and constantly.

**Responsibilities**:

- Cook menu items in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all dishes are consistent
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, and measuring ingredients
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies and ingredients
- Clean and maintain equipment, kitchen surfaces, and work areas to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new specials
- Monitor food inventory and notifying manager when levels are low
- Follow all health and safety guidelines when handling food and kitchen equipment
- Work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the manager

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a line cook, preferably in a restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and ingredients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy pots and pans
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent

Certificates:

- Certification in food handling - required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 20 per week
