About Our Opportunity:
Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the PRIYD Program (Providing Resources and Independence for Youth Development) is a community-based life skills program focusing on functional life skills and community participation for children and youth with support needs living in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, and Vancouver. The goals of the program are to increase each person’s independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups. Staff work directly with children and youth who may have diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Fragile X syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and/or mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
**Our Volunteers**
- Dedicate their time, skills, and efforts to assist with various community programs
- Support clients while making a positive impact in the community
- Support the organization in its mission, values, and commitment to compassionate and client-centered care.
- Supporting clients to participate engaged in the activities
- Facilitating social interactions, setting boundaries and providing encouragement
- Utilizing modelling to assist clients through transitions and during activities
- Developing positive and supportive relationships with clients, families and group leaders
- Acting in accordance with the policies and procedures of the program (i.e. client confidentiality, safety, maintaining professional boundaries)

**Volunteer Hours**: Saturdays or Sundays 9 am -1 pm, and/or 2 pm - 6 pm
**Location**: Community locations around Vancouver or Burnaby

What do you need to succeed?
**Training, Experience**
- Experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities or support needs
- Demonstrated ability to identify health and safety issues for children and youth
- Standard First Aid certificate is an asset
- 6-month minimum commitment of 4.5 hours per week, on Saturdays or Sundays
- Ability to work actively in the community
**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check

Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families, and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma, mental health, or substance issues.
