Central Health Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre is starting a new multi-disciplinary clinic in Whitby that will offer a wide range of comprehensive services to meet the needs of adults, seniors, and paediatrics patients.
**Job description**
The medical receptionists job is to deliver a smooth operation of the front desk and patient service experience. The Medical Receptionist will welcome staff and visitors to the clinic, answer telephones, accept payments and help with supportive duties with the therapists.
**Responsibilities**
- Demonstrate a commitment to Central Health
- Welcome and greet patients to the clinic in a professional and friendly manner
- Register new patients and enter all demographic and extended health care information
- Answer the telephone, book appointments, distribute messages, faxes, mail
- Book leads from marketing services
- Maintain confidentiality of all data and information
- Maintain a hospitable, neat and tidy waiting room and clinic areas
- Scan results, consult notes, labs, and other documents into the EMR as required
- Address patients concerns and complaints on the phone and in person as they arise according to policy & guidelines
- Receive payments from and issue receipt for patients for non-insured services and/or program registration
- Direct bill patients extended health care with accuracy and at a timely manner
- Fill out necessary claim forms for patients
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned and/or required
- In the performance of the above duties, is responsible for maintaining a smooth, positive working relationship
**Qualifications**
**Professional Education/Experience Required**:
Minimum formal education required:
- High school diploma
- Graduate of a Medical Secretarial Program and or related office administration course preferred. (optional)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skill
- Positive attitude, good judgment skills, articulate and team player
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities while managing a high volume of phone calls and daily transactions
- Adaptive and responsive to changes in work volumes, responsibilities and scope of practice
- 1-2 years of experience is recommended
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
