**About the Role**:
The Manager of Cybersecurity is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive cybersecurity program for Mount Royal University. This role is critical to protecting the University's sensitive information, systems, and networks from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction.
The Manager of Cybersecurity reports directly to the Director of IT and works closely with other IT staff, faculty, and administrative departments. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment and decision-making, as well as the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with a team. The Manager of Cybersecurity must stay abreast of emerging threats and technologies and adapt the University's cybersecurity program accordingly. This position operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and the incumbent must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Occasional after-hours work may be required to respond to cybersecurity incidents.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity program that aligns with the University's strategic goals and risk tolerance.
- Establish and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
- Lead a team of cybersecurity professionals in the implementation and execution of the cybersecurity program.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Monitor and investigate cybersecurity incidents and lead response and recovery efforts.
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training and education to faculty, staff, and students.
- Stay informed of emerging threats and technologies and adapt the cybersecurity program accordingly.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Other duties as assigned
***Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Cybersecurity or Information Security is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity programs in a complex organization.
- Experience in incident response and recovery.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to think strategically and solve problems creatively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are preferred.
