Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Hours of Service (HOS)
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable provincial and federal transportation regulations
- Ensure full adherence to Hours of Service (HOS) rules, including monitoring ELDs/logbooks and addressing violations
- Maintain compliant driver qualification files (abstracts, medicals, licenses, certifications)
- Oversee NSC (National Safety Code) compliance and support audit readiness
- Track and manage driver infractions, corrective actions, and follow-up training ICBC Claims & Incident Management
- Manage and coordinate all ICBC claims, including reporting, documentation, and communication with adjusters
- Conduct internal accident investigations and root cause analysis
- Maintain accident registers and ensure timely submission of required documentation
- Coordinate post-incident drug/alcohol testing where applicable
- Track claim trends and recommend preventative safety measures Safety Programs & Training
- Develop, implement, and update company safety policies and procedures
- Deliver driver onboarding and ongoing safety training (defensive driving, cargo securement, HOS compliance, etc.)
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Promote COR (Certificate of Recognition) program compliance, if applicable
- Lead safety initiatives to reduce incidents, violations, and insurance costs Fleet & Operational Compliance
- Ensure compliance with vehicle maintenance and inspection programs (pre-trip, post-trip, CVIP inspections)
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and documentation
- Oversee cargo securement and load safety compliance
- Ensure proper permits, licensing, and fleet documentation are up to date
- Assist with regulatory audits and roadside inspection follow-ups Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare compliance and safety performance reports for management
- Analyze safety metrics, violations, and incident trends
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Stay current with changes in transportation laws and regulatory requirements Qualifications & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of trucking industry regulations and safety standards
- Demonstrated experience managing ICBC claims and accident reporting processes
- In-depth understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and ELD compliance
- Experience with NSC compliance and audit preparation
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
- Effective communication and training skills
- Proficient in compliance tracking systems and Microsoft Office
