Care for Newcomer Children

Calgary, Canada The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) Full time

Reporting to the LINC/CNC Coordinator, CNC educators provide professional care for Newcomer Children under the guidance and leadership of lead CNC educator.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Be familiar with childminding licensing regulations/policy/rules, TIES childminding administrative manual and CIES employee policies and observe them in daily operations.
- Prepare the room appropriately before the children arrive. Ensure children play and rest in a safe environment. If detecting any hazards, report to your supervisor immediately.
- Greet the parents when they drop off and pick up the children in a professional manner.
- Open files for new children and close files when children depart from the program as requested.
- Check the children for injuries and illness as they arrive. Record children’s daily attendance, activities, and health status.
- Ensure children are always supervised. Supervise the children’s daily activities and routines.
- Monitor the children’s behavior and intervene as needed.
- Respond sensitively to the cultural heritage, values and individual experiences of the children.
- Plan a program that respects the values, customs and traditions of the enrolled children.
- Provide orientation to the new children’s parent(s)/guardian(s). Prepare, complete, and document the children’s file. Update the information in the files, e.g. vaccination, contact information, closing.
- **Qualifications**:

- Minimum Level 2
- At least 1 year of childcare working experience
- Valid first-aid certificate
- Clear police check within 6 months prior to employment
- Valid food safety certificate
- Valid Tetanus and Diphtheria Vaccination; Valid clear Tuberculosis test result
- Team player
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity
- A genuine concern and care for children

**Job Type**: Part-time

Expected hours: 14 per week
