**Elves Family Support Worker**

Elves supports persons with disabilities and their families. We have an immediate opening for a self-directed, experienced team members to join our multidisciplinary services for our School Program team. The family support worker offers in person or direct assistance to caregivers and parents to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and the families. supported interventions are intended to maximize the family well-being and the academic functioning of children

Elves operates Educational, Adult Day Program and Respite Program within the Edmonton area. We employ over 190- staff including certificated teachers, educational assistants, instructors, occupational and physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, therapy assistants, nurses, socials workers and behavioral consultants. Annually, Elves serves up to 400 individuals ages three into late adulthood.

Elves is seeking a motivated individuals who enjoy working with families of children, youth with developmental disabilities including complex physical, cognitive and neurodevelopmental profiles. Work includes intake and transitional supports, facilitation of caregiver support groups and case work or supported access to services and supports.

This is a full-time position entailing administrative duties as families are supported to register to receive Elves services and support or to register within other programs. with three days per week dedicated to serving pediatric and Grades One to Twelve population and two days a week within the Elves Adult Program.

**Qualifications**
- Degree in Human Services, Disability Services, Social Work, Education or equivalent,
- Registration with the certifying body is essential. For example: Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or Alberta Education is mandatory;
- Proficient typing skills and accuracy data entry and management of confidential information.
- Experience working directly with families with diverse and complex needs.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends on occasion.

**Duties**:

- Support social worker team members with case loads and onboarding of new students in the Elves School Program.
- Supporting families to register with Elves or other organizations to receive needed services and supports;
- Support transitional planning;
- Conduct tours as directed:

- Planning and implementation of mutual support groups;
- Mentoring and supporting complex family systems and managing crisis effectively;
- Understanding of family systems and the early childhood development.
- Ability to work with diverse populations is essential while identifying and supporting access to services;
- Ability to advocate, write reports and meet with families or other professionals to debrief the results;
- Offer expertise to support the management of challenging behaviours through positive supports;
- Effective supervisory skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced problem solving, assessment and analytical skills:

- Facilitate parental capacity and parenting skills through education, training and access to other professionals and caregivers;
- Strong demonstration and oral presentation skills;
- Willingness to drive personal vehicle to conduct home visits or other community based meetings as needed.

Hours: 30 - 40 hours per week

Salary range $30.00 - $33.00 based on experience and education

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
