The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

**About the Opportunity**:
Within the IPPL portfolio, the Violence Prevention, Intervention and Response Program focuses on trauma informed, person centred evidence informed care required at various points of entry to health services by individuals and families with experiences of interpersonal violence. This program will serve individuals aged 15 years and over who have experienced violence, including domestic violence, sexual assaults or other forms of violence and at a high level of risk for reoccurrence and/or lethality. This provincial program advances professional and interprofessional practice for regulated and unregulated care providers in health service settings across NSH and IWK and other sectors of the province.

Reporting to the Director of Violence Prevention, Intervention and Response, the Domestic Violence Consultant (DVC) works with members of the IPPL team, operational leadership, staff and relevant councils/committees/tables related to domestic violence (DV) in Nova Scotia. The DVC is an IPPL team member who supports DV specific consultations from programs and services in Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health and other relevant councils/committees/tables. The DVC will serve as a resource for government departments and other provincial organizations and community agencies as it relates to DV.

The DVC acts as a consultant in relation to DV and utilizes the Highest Risk Domestic Violence Framework and other relevant legislative, professional, standards of practice related to interpersonal violence, especially in DV. The DVC facilitates learning that builds capacity, supports, and advances professional practice and maintains and develops evidence-informed standards of care. Additionally, the DVC is responsible for evolving programs by building and/or navigating partnerships and strengthening alliances to optimize who and how individuals in the community are supported by health care teams and other service providers and agencies. Working with the Director and service providers and partners, the DVC will provide leadership for future planning for the service based on an assessment of individual, family, community and health care team needs.

This position is flexible within the province and can be aligned with any NSHealth site.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or other related area required
- Provincial, National or Professional certification/registration/designation required
- Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) or relevant professional regulatory body required
- Minimum of 5 years recent therapeutic counselling experience required, with related leadership experience preferred
- Minimum two (2) years post-Master's experience in crisis intervention and crisis stabilization/or comparable experience required
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification _preferred_
- Demonstrated ability to complete mental health assessments, diagnosis, and provide evidence-based treatment/intervention using the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual (DSM-V)
- Knowledge and understanding of the Involuntary Psychiatric Treat
