Av Technician

Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for families in the GTA since 1826. We operate ten cemeteries, nine funeral centres and four cremation centres, all serving the distinct needs of the local communities where they are located. We are looking for a AV Technician to join our team at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre in Toronto.

System Operation
- Operate all of the audio & visual production equipment during services at the two designated funeral centres. There may be the occasional need to travel to one of the other MPG locations for support.
- Ensure the proper functioning of wireless microphones, musical instruments, cameras, lighting, touchscreens, other AV devices along with audio, streaming services and other applicable software.
- Test the correct functioning of any slideshows and/or videos
- Conduct quality control analysis during services and make adjustments as needed to enhance the client experience.
- Confirm the operation of any livestreams and archival recordings
- Troubleshoot and problem solve equipment and software issues
- Work with the vendors to troubleshoot any hardware, software, or connectivity issues
- Ensure AV interfaces and systems are standardized across locations for the purposes of ensuring consistency of use for employees when working from different locations.

Training
- Work with Corporate Trainers to build training modules and job aids to deliver training on demand to guide staff on the proper procedures to operate the audio & visual equipment
- Provide in-person or remote support and/or training as required to staff

Content Creation/Process Improvement
- Create a set of best practices to be used at all locations for operating the audio & visual equipment
- Provide feedback to enhance/improve the client experience
- Discuss with clients their specific audio & visual production needs
- Investigate and source movie/slide show software to be used consistently across locations, with the goal of training funeral directors to create high quality presentations with relative ease.
- Build presentations for corporate and community events, including the annual Candlelight Memorial presentations for all participating sites.
- Editing livestreamed services to produce a quality final product for the client.
- Enforce data retention procedures and standards

Administrative Duties
- Coordinate and prioritize appointments based upon client needs
- Documentation of processes and procedures
- Performs other sundry duties as assigned

**Hours/Days of Work**:

- Tuesday to Saturday
- 8:00AM - 4:30PM
- Some evening shifts as required based upon client needs

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Technical program experience/certification or related experience
- At least two years of experience in a similar role
- At least two years of customer service experience
- Previous experience using media editing software, tools and players
- Previous experience using macOS and/or iOS products
- Previous experience with on-line streaming platforms is an asset
- Must have reliable access to their own recent-model vehicle, along with a valid Ontario “G” driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. Mileage will be reimbursed as per MPG’s Mileage Reimbursement Policy.

- Familiarity with funeral home environment and internal policies and procedures is an asset
- Sensitivity to persons in bereavement and understanding a variety of cultural and religious funeral expectations is an asset
- Intermediate proficiency of Windows and MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
