Accounting Specialist

**What you will do...**
- Review Dext and push expense transactions to accounting (in Quickbooks Online) - this includes correctly classifying transactions and ensuring that sufficient backup documentation is provided.
- Record transactions in QBO (journal entries, debts, credits), ensure that accounting records are up to date and amounts are correctly classified.
- Perform regular reconciliations of key accounts: bank accounts, credit cards, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support accounting staff in weekly payable process to ensure vendors are paid on time
- Support accounting staff in invoicing process and following up on uncollected amounts
- Coordinate with external bookkeepers to ensure all monthly reporting is completed in a timely manner
- Assist with annual audit by preparing working papers, responding to auditor requests and gathering income tax information
- Fluent in French (required) and English (preferred)
- Has **0-2 years** of experience in the same or similar role
- Has a strong understanding of bookkeeping, including mastery of accounting principle, good organizational and language skills, computer skills (GSuite, Quickbooks, Dext, Plooto), & strong numerical skills (Excel)
- A self-starting individual who is comfortable both independently and in teams
- Has a proactive and open-minded personality, displays initiative

**It would be a plus if you also have**
- A degree, completed or ongoing, in the same or a related field (College or University)
- Experience in a startup environment or familiar with startup culture
- Ability to learn new software quickly
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Deadline and detail-oriented
