Cyber Security Specialist
As a critical member of Checkfronts growing Privacy, Security and Compliance Team, the Cyber Security Specialist will be responsible for the technical leadership of Checkfront’s cyber security and compliance programs.
- Please note the preference for this role is located remotely from anywhere in Canada or in our beautiful office in Victoria, BC._
Some tasks you’ll be taking on
- Engage in whitehat activities to identify gaps in our Cybersecurity
- Collaborate with Development team to access and identify secure solutions to architecture proposals
- Key technical contributor to our PCI compliance program, and implement controls, policies, and procedures
- Manage IT, infrastructure and operational internal testing frameworks to evaluate control effectiveness and remediation activities
- Conducting readiness assessments against GDPR and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement controls, policies, and procedures as required
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor and remediate control deficiencies against established deliverables and timelines
- Own and maintain the organization’s Incident Management and Response plan, including post mortem evaluation and corrective prevention strategies
- Perform and maintain Security assessments of organizational assets, including procurement, vendors and strategic development initiatives
- Build credibility with various stakeholders through prompt responsiveness, collaborative and innovative thinking
- Evaluating and communicating control results, best practices, and risks to stakeholders
- Partner with Development and DevOps and ensure that cybersecurity and compliance best practices are built into all future systems
- Monitoring compliance with current and emerging laws, regulations, and standard
- Supports in developing and improving technology risk and cybersecurity management framework
Ideally, you should have
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Assurance
- 3 years experience in IT/Cyber Security Experience
- 2 years experience in PCI Compliance
- Strong delivery, time management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely and effective manner
- Excel in verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrable history of interacting with various levels of management and both technical and non-technical individuals across the business and third parties
- Skilled at advocacy and influence with the ability to coach others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic or common best interests
