Lift operates many resource centres in our community, including the local WorkBC Centre, the Community Resource Centre, the Family Place, the Dr. Elsie Paul Literacy Centre.

**The Position**

**Overview**
- **Hours**: 20 hours/week
- **Hours**: Monday to Friday - 7 hours per day preferred
- **Wages**: $25.05 - $27.70, on a 5-step wage grid

**Key Tasks and Competencies**
- Helps with move-in and move-out procedures
- performs routine building maintenance to keep residential units in a safe and habitable condition and to ensure other building structures, components and equipment are kept in a state of good order.
- maintains mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drains, security and intercom systems, with assistance from the appropriate service providers, as required.
- conducts regular grounds inspection and ensures grounds are maintained and building is free of graffiti, garbage, etc.
- Performs a variety of cleaning duties, garbage removal, and monitors disposal services
- Works with all staff to ensure facilities meet the needs of residents
- Maintains manual and computerized records on an ongoing basis
- Operates within an approved budget
- Assists the maintenance coordinator with routine and emergency safety planning and implementation, including but not limited to overdose prevention, infectious disease control, and extreme heat
- Arranges inspections and maintenance of fire and safety equipment
**Experience**
- A minimum of 1 year experience in the non-profit housing or a related social service field
- Experience working in supportive housing would be an asset
- Knowledge and experience in compliance with related building codes and legislation
- Experience in skilled trades and/or building maintenance.
**Skills and Abilities**
- Demonstrated ability in a wide range of maintenance skills such as carpentry, plumbing, mechanics, janitorial, electrical, use of manual and mechanical tools
- Demonstrated experience working successfully with populations impacted by homelessness, substance use disorder, mental health issues and/or other barriers to stable housing
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of substance use disorder, mental health, homelessness and poverty
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and be part of an integrated community team
- Proficient in Google suite programs (Docs and Sheets) and MS 365 programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)

- Requires Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check clearance
