Organizational Unit- University of Victoria -> Student Affairs -> University Food Services- Location- University of Victoria - Victoria, BC V8W 2Y2 CA (Primary) - Posting Close Date- 16 September 2024- Please note that positions will close at 4 p.m. on the closing date.- FTE- 1.0- Salary Grade- $25.15 - $25.57- Additional Posting Information: - N/A- Salary posted will be pro-rated based on FTE and achieved as per the collective agreement, if applicable.- Hours of Work- Varied, including mornings, evenings and weekends- Employee Group: - CUPE 917 - Regular- # of Hires Needed- 1- Position Number- 993890- Category- Restaurant and Food Service- About this Opportunity**_Subject to intermittent layoffs during holidays and reading breaks._** **Required**: - **Level 1 Food Safe.**: - **Successful applicants must be able to work varied shifts as required which may include evenings and weekends.** - Job Summary- Assists in the preparation of food. - Washes, cleans, and prepares vegetables and fruit for cooking and salad use. - Mixes juices as assigned. - Portions desserts and prepares sandwich fillings as directed. - Sets and clears dining room tables, arranging them to meet user requirements. - Transports food, supplies, and equipment to and from the kitchen, dining areas, storerooms, and refrigerators. - Readies and refills drink dispensers and stocks condiments and food in serving areas. - Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment. - Dispenses food and beverages to customers. - Waits on tables when required. - Cleans work areas, equipment, and fixtures. - Prepares soiled dishes and cutlery for the dishwashing machine. - Stacks and sorts clean dishes and cutlery. - Performs laundry duties and other related work as required. - Job Requirements- Good communication skills. - Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to working effectively within a team environment. - Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain a well-organized work area. - Knowledge of food safety standards, effective sanitation and housekeeping practices, and the operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment. - Ability to learn routines related to food service, including assisting in food preparation and cleanup. - Serving It Right Certification by the British Columbia Liquor Control Board may be required, depending on the work assignment. **Territory Acknowledgement**:We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **What UVic Offers**:To learn more click here.
