Catering experience is an asset._** **_Subject to intermittent layoffs during holidays and reading breaks._** **Required**: - **Level 1 Food Safe**: - **Valid B.C drivers license**: - **Due to limited public transportation for early morning and late evening shifts, it is required to have reliable personal transportation in order to arrive for shifts starting as early for 6am or ending as late as 12am, 7 days a week**: - **Successful applicants must be able to work varied shifts as required which may include evenings and weekends** - Job Summary Performs the duties of a General Worker Heavy I: - Washes, scrubs, mops, and cleans areas and operates pot washing equipment to clean large cooking utensils in the food services unit - Removes garbage, cleans garbage cans and disposes of garbage - Lifts heavy pieces of equipment and supplies and in addition may perform additional special duties, such as: - Transporting food, supplies, receipts and equipment, operating a University vehicle on a daily schedule - Assisting to receive and reconcile shipments, packing slips and requisitions - Assisting to maintain, organize, and secure Food Service Department storerooms - Advising when routine reorders are required - Performing other duties similar in scope and complexity - Job Requirements **Qualifications**: - A minimum of two years' experience as a General Worker Heavy I, including experience performing the special duties required, or an equivalent combination of experience. - Knowledge of food safety standards, effective sanitation and housekeeping practices, and the operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment. - Ability to learn routines related to food service shipping and receiving, working accurately with figures, keep routine records, and follow written and oral instructions. - Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, standing and walking for long periods of time, repetitive lifting, carrying heavy objects. - Ability to work cooperatively with others. - Valid B.C.
